Why is International Dog Day on August 26th?
The first International Dog Day was celebrated on 26 August 2004 in the USA. It was strongly advocated by Colleen Paige, an American pet expert and television celebrity. The date 26th of August was named after the day the Paige family adopted their first puppy, when Colleen was only ten years old.
