AT THE MUSEUM WITH THE DOG

Are you planning a weekend of cultural activities in some art heritage city and considering leaving your dog behind because animals are not allowed in museums? You should know that there are many institutions in Italy that can be easily visited even with your loyal four-legged friend. Here are some of Italy’s pet-friendly museums!

As you know, dogs are not allowed in most museums in Italy and abroad, but this should not discourage lovers of art and dogs. We have prepared a list of some exceptions, so you can combine your love of both with little effort.

Turin is an Italian city that holds an absolute record of pet-friendly museums: from Palazzo Madama to Mole and the Museum of Cinema (although the latter does not allow large breeds). The National Automobile Museum has no restrictions, as long as Fido knows how to behave in public places; while to visit the Royal Gardens, dogs have to be on a leash.

Milan is a Mecca for lovers of contemporary art. Hangar Bicocca, just outside the city center, hosts temporary exhibitions by international artists and a permanent exhibition by Anselm Kiefer. Here, dogs on leashes are allowed everywhere, even in the cafe.

If you love scooters, particularly the legendary Vespa, you must visit the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera, not far from Pisa. Here you can enjoy a vast collection of scooters in the company of your loyal friend because this museum is dog-friendly. There is even a cafeteria designed just for them.

Do you have a passion for archeology? Set aside some time to visit the National Archeological Museum and the Roman Theater of Spoleto. The monument complex, which includes the museum, is built on top of a Roman Theater and reutilizes some of its masonry and materials. Dogs can run around freely in a large open space, as well as accompany their owners during the visit.

Everything considered, when planning a visit to a museum, it is always best to take along a leash and a collar or harness. It is best to choose a soft, padded model such as those of Ferplast’s brand new Cricket line and preferably a leash with an automatic Matic carabiner, which is safer and quicker to clip because it is equipped with a double button release mechanism, which prevents accidental opening.

Before entering a museum, we recommend you make sure your furry friend has done his business, so he can enjoy the next few hours in peace. But just in case, bring some dog waste bags in the convenient and colorful Dudù containers clipped to the leash.

Are you ready to pass a fantastic weekend dedicated to cultural pursuits with your furry friend?
