ON A CRUISE WITH YOUR PET

Pet-friendly cruise ships

Cruises are relaxing vacations, and for a while now several of these companies have allowed pets on board, either for holidays or for transportation. Let’s take a closer look and see which cruise companies allow pets on board.

If you own a pet, one of the first things you must do when you start planning your holidays is to find a solution that includes her. There are plenty of options around, even if your choice of vacation is a nice cruise.

There are cruises for singles, for families, and for those with pets, suitably equipped for our furry friends. Of course, each cruise company has its own rules, so let’s take a closer look.

TIRRENA: Small pets are welcome after paying for their ticket and providing a veterinary certificate of good health. If you own a dog or a cat, the company offers cabins without carpet, cleaned and sanitized after each voyage. Dogs must be kept under leash and muzzle so as to not disturb other passengers, but at least we can take them on walks on the outer decks.

CUNARD LINE: By paying a supplement of 500 dollars, you can get an all-inclusive luxury vacation for your pet, with food, toys and various accessories included. For transoceanic journeys, the company offers Queen Mary II, a 5-star kennel ship.

HURTIGRUTEN: For those who wish to go on a cruise in Northern Europe, this is the perfect company. Its prices are lower, but you must bring yourself everything your pet needs.

For the moment, giant companies such as Costa Crociere, MSC Crociere and Royal Caribbean don’t allow pets on board, with the exception of guide dogs for disabled passengers.

Several ferry services, such as Corsica Ferries, Moby Lines and Grandi Navi Veloci allow pets on board as long as they travel with their own “travel kit”: muzzle, carrier, food bowl and water bottle, poo bags, health book, and leash, naturally. Ferplast’s Amigo leash is a very good option, as it can be adjusted in length and is easy and practical to use, to keep your dog always next to you.

Before you leave, make sure your dog is allowed on board and that all possible comforts are ensured. Then all that’s left for us to do is to wish you great holidays!
